Oh, I like this! In a funny way, it retains something of the religious spirit even while secularizing it. If "His" Kingdom is truly "at hand," then imagining Him on the Leeds-to-London coach is no great stretch. And, of course, we frame our human advents (waiting for the friend/lover/brother, etc.) in terms derived from the Advent story and the traditional observances. Moreover, Advent marks the time when people turn toward home.
